SJ Higgins were engaged to deliver a new McDonald’s Restaurant in the heart of Brisbane City’s retail & hospitality hub, Queen Street Mall.
The project involved demolition of the existing iconic restaurant ‘Jojo’s’, an upgrade to the cold shell, major electrical upgrades and the removal of existing escalators and installation of new ones. A modern McDonald’s fit out was completed over the 1,000sqm space, making it the largest McDonald’s in Australia and features 320 seats throughout, a large outdoor dining alfresco, meeting rooms and kid’s PlayPlace.
The site’s location drew many challenges upon the team such as very limited access, large electrical upgrade obstacles due to location and limited building access, as well as construction over the inner-city underground bus tunnel. However, through transparent communication and strong relationships with all stakeholders, SJ Higgins were able to implement appropriate methodologies to ensure minimal impact on the public and surrounding tenancies, and successfully deliver a high-end space to our long-term client.
