Gympie
SJ Higgins’ Queensland team is currently engaged to undertake an extensive refurbishment and upgrade to the existing aged care facility in Gympie for Japara Healthcare.
The works will be completed over 6 stages, where the facility will receive upgrades to the dementia ward, common areas, resident’s rooms, ensuites, reception, dining areas, nurses’ stations, staff amenities and a new outdoor areas for staff an residents.
The refurbishment includes new floors, walls, ceilings, paint, tiles, joinery, televisions and furniture throughout the nursing home.
The centre is remaining operational throughout the upgrade, which means our teams have to ensure that there is as little disruption as possible to the staff and residents alike.
A temporary entrance and reception is to be installed, along with programming our works to ensure a maximum of 15 rooms are undertaken at once, where the residents will be temporarily moved to another wing of the facility whilst their room is upgraded.
We have recently completed Stage 1, photos can be seen below, and Stage 2 is now underway.
Coffs Harbour
Similar to the works being carried out at the Gympie nursing home, the Coffs Harbour facility is receiving a top-to-toe refurbishment and upgrade to the existing centre.

More specifically, the quad rooms will be converted into single and double rooms, with new ensuites and televisions. Additionally, the centre will also receive a new café, reception, salon and therapy rooms, as well as a new outdoor precinct for staff and resident’s to enjoy.
